RNC Radio: Ron Yacovetti a.k.a. The Yacman, Philly-area promoter Fran Evans
Ron “Yacman” Yacovetti made his Rear Naked Choke Radio debut Tuesday night on JoeTed.com, when hosts Joe Rizzo and Ted Takvorian streamed live ringside from LA Boxing in Paramus, NJ.
While the WEC and UFC are giving MMA fans plenty to watch this week, Joe and Ted are not forgetting about local MMA scenes around the country. Fran Evans, promoter of Locked in the Cage 1 in Philadelphia, joined the guys and Rear Naked Choke Radio will do a special show cageside Friday before Tara LaRosa and Wilson Reis headline that card.
The Yacman has been one of the most creative personalities in MMA, from the innovative MMA with Yac & J in the heyday of ProElite to his latest projects, which include an interview with Tito Ortiz on location at Big Bear.

The Yacman will be commentating for Art of Fighting on Sunday, Nov. 22 on FOX Sports Florida.
It’s part of an exciting week of programming on JoeTed.com, in which the show recognizes smaller and local MMA promotions that might get lost in the shuffle with all the top-level action.
If you’re going to be anywhere near Philly on Friday night, stop in and meet Joe and Ted at Locked in the Cage 1. You’ll get to see Tara’s fight with Valerie Coolbaugh, and Wilson’s battle with Dwayne Sheldon. *Visit Tara’s site or ExtremeForce.TV for tickets.
* – Beer available to those with advance ticket purchases only.
Yacman gave his take on the Southern California Armenian MMA angle, as he called recent fights involving WEC debutante Karen Darabedyan and told the backstory of the Tito interview. He talked about his extensive background in the industry, how he got where he is after being a comedian for 12 years, and the infamous Gina Carano interview.
The “Ask the Razor” segment with Benji Radach took the week off. Benji answers listener questions on the air. Join our group: Rear Naked Choke Radio on Facebook, and post your question. Then listen to the show for the answers! While you’re at it, become a Facebook fan of LA Boxing and stop in and see us at LA Boxing Paramus!
