RNC Radio: UFC 111 fighter Jake Ellenberger talks GSP-Hardy, Tara LaRosa on Strikeforce and trashy female fighters
UFC 111 fighter Jake Ellenberger and outspoken top-ranked Tara LaRosa joined Examiner.com MMA writer Joe Rizzo on Rear Naked Choke Radio.
Due to heavy snow in the Northeast, the show did not originate from the usual location at LA Boxing in Paramus, NJ, but an audio stream is available for listeners. You can always catch the show here, if the live version does not match your time schedule.
LISTEN BELOW:
Ellenberger stepped in for Martin Kampmann to take on Ben Saunders in a welterweight match on the pay-per-view portion of the stacked UFC 111 card in Newark, NJ. Jake admited he does not think Dan Hardy is in the class of some of the other welterweights on the card and that he does not believe Hardy deserved the title shot against Georges St-Pierre. Jake reviewed with Joe how he got the fight, what he thinks will happen and why Saunders is a good matchup for him. He also covered a number of other topics, including the scout team for his post-fight after-party/birthday party, why he is not a fan of the way wrestlers are taking over MMA and how beneficial it can be to train in different camps.
Tara unloaded an arsenal of criticism against female fighters that self-promote their sexuality without being able to back it up with wins in the cage. Joe pushed her buttons by talking about the recent M-1 Global Selection event in which Cindy Dandois scored a much-too-quick victory over Maria Hougaard. When Tara discussed her current situation, she revealed strong consideration about a return to the 135-pound division, which would mean a run at the Strikeforce belt that will be handed out Feb. 26 when Sarah Kaufman faces Takayo Hashi.
Joe calmed down Tara by soliciting her advice about what kind of flowers he ought to get his wife for Valentine’s Day.
