About Joe:

Joe waited over a decade-and-a-half to scratch the itch of getting back into talk show hosting. Coming out of Fordham University, Joe had built a resume on 50,000-watt station WFUV in New York. He hosted a sports call-in show and did play-by-play and color for basketball, football and baseball.

In his senior year, Joe’s call of Fordham’s overtime buzzer-beater in the first-ever Patriot League men’s basketball final was rebroadcast locally on WFAN, WNBC-TV and capped ESPN’s Plays of the Week. Because Fordham had not yet been outfitted with cable television and because his family was inept about these things, Joe called Ted, who was attending Stetson University in Florida, and had him tape the ESPN segment. Included on that VHS tape is a soft-porn video Ted had taped off the Playboy Channel.

He tries to play the funny guy in real life, but on The Rear Naked Choke, Joe mostly is the straight man to Ted’s irreverence. Every now and then he might break into broadcaster voice, but his wife tells him to stay away from that because she likes his regular voice.

Joe was a sportswriter for about 10 years after leaving Fordham. Although he has moved into high-volume tech sales for his main gig, Joe got back into covering games a few years ago. That means he knows some semi-famous people. This angle is potential boon for The RNC, as it increases the chances of an improved and exciting guest list.

Joe used to have a lot of free time, but that ended in 2005 when his beautiful wife, Debbie, gave birth to their triplets.  Debbie has since become producer of the show.

About Ted:

Born and raised in New Jersey, Ted is the co-founder and co-host of The Rear Naked Choke which focuses on the personal side of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Ted does not claim to be an expert on the sport, thus treats all guests equally.  The extent of his formal on-air training until embarking on The RNC amounted to calling in to Joe’s radio show during college days.

What he lacks in experience, Ted more than makes up for in moxie, savvy and an uncanny ability to never be embarrassed.  He is more willing than the next person to try something new, with little fear of failure.  This includes everything from geocaching to recently breaking into the mainstream media by covering the NHL ’s NewJersey Devils.

Blessed with a sense of humor that is funny only to Joe, Ted is a successful professional in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.  The past few years, he also has become deeply involved in social networking in an effort to broaden his horizons, meet new & interesting people and - ultimately- to have more fun.

Despite having little conscience (and hair), those who know Ted well often are pleasantly surprised to see that he is very socially responsible. Drawing looks and strange comments from friends many years ago, he put in the time and effort to become a local volunteer fireman.

Ted and his wonderful son Charlie are big fans of video arcade games, model trains, popcorn, the New Jersey Devils and geocaching.
