Joe & Ted talked about the payout differences between the UFC “Silva vs. Irvin” on Spike vs. Affliction “Banned”, and what it means for MMA’s future.

The Kitch, a.k.a. James Kitcher, finished it off with an audio blog on his upcoming coverage of the EliteXC CBS show in Stockton, CA.

Of course, we’re working on improvements and surprises. Tell us what you think with an email to TheRNC@joeted.com or just post a comment on this page. Did you like the idea of The Kitch’s audio blog? Hate it?

THE OLYMPICS ARE COMING

The Olympics are coming (8/8/08) and one of our good pals, Clarissa Chun, is going to be representin’ the USA in wrestling at 105.5 pounds. If you want to personally support her efforts, go to her site, www.clarissachun.com and buy one of her cool T-shirts for $20 or just donate something.

To support USA Wrestling, go to www.fuelthedream.com. We have a lot of pals pushing (and pulling and doing takedowns and pins) for the gold in Beijing (we call it “The Zhing”)!

Look out for another one of our buddies, Tim Hughes, to be covering boxing. You know Tim as the MMA ring voice doing IFL, Sportfight and HDNet Fights, among others. You also know him from being a frequent guest and co-host of The Rear Naked Choke!

Oh yeah – and from this: “CAN YOU FEEL IT?!!!

FEEDBACK

We want your feedback and suggestions about the show, MMA, or pretty much anything else. We also want Ted to tell people how to listen to the show through your iPhone while you’re in your car or wherever you are. If you have done it or know how to do it, then tell us about your experience. Tell us how you listen to the show and what you love or despise about it. TheRNC@joeted.com. We’re pushing the emailing a lot now.

We also are trying to figure out why those using Internet Explorer load www.joeted.com and have it come up halfway down the page to one of the videos. Sorry about that.

THE CHAMP, HIS BRO, TED & JOE IN DA HOUSE!
The Rear Naked Choke visits AMA Fight Club
Home of newly crowned IFL middleweight champ Dan Miller
And his brother Jim!
Highlights: Oil Can Boyd, 5-on-2 … JUST LISTEN! OR WATCH!

Dan Miller stunned the establishment Friday night at Mohegan Sun with his belt-winning kneebar of IFL middleweight champion Ryan McGivern.

On May 19, Dan and his brother, Jim, welcomed Joe, Ted and The Rear Naked Choke crew to AMA Fight Club in Whippany, NJ for an in-person show! To hear Dan’s initial appearance on the show, Dec. 3, 2007, click the second player below.

The 185-pound IFL championship belt Dan secured was sitting right there on the table the whole show, which featured a recap of the Mohegan Sun card from May 16, the history of the Miller brothers, the MMA scene, family squabbles, the IFL, contracts, and much more.

Don’t worry, we also made Dan talk AGAIN about “The Guillotine From Hell” from his first IFL fight!

It got ugly when Jim revealed the dirty tricks of wrestling and Ted busted out the Oil Can Boyd reference.

If you missed it live, you can download this or any show to your iTunes by clicking the iTunes widget on www.joeted.com, and there also is an RSS feed available among the ways to keep on top of The Choke.

We also are feverishly working to get the VIDEO archive of live shows available through our partners at IFL.TV – feel free to check out the video player and do not wait for word from us. IT’S OK!

THOUGHTS FROM MOHEGAN

We once again were treated in a top-notch manner by the IFL and its staff, especially Jerry Milani, Greg DeSanctis and Katie Eskin. Katie has been instrumental in getting the video livestream running on IFL.TV. As we work out the kinks, the product will continue to improve (and believe us, we’re working tirelessly on it).

As usual, Debbie Rizzo killed as producer. James “The Kitch” Kitcher did well remote producing and keeping up joeted.com from The Land of Urijah Faber. Marty Lang gave us a taste of his professional film making by manning the video.

The guest list from the three on-site Mohegan Sun event-related shows:

Bad Brad Blackburn (co-hosted in Ted’s spot 5/14), Joey Guel, Carlos Hernandez, Zac George, Ryan “The Lion” Schultz, Roy “Big Country” Nelson, John Franchi, Nick Calandrino, Mike Massenzio, Kurt Otto, Tim Hughes, Jay Larkin, Chael Sonnen and, last but not least, Mike Ciesnolevicz.

After the fights finished, the crew hung out at the casino. Ted and Marty chilled with Big Country, and Joe and Debbie caught up with them after a nice chat-up with the Team Quest guys, including Ryan The Lion, Chael, Aaron Stark and Matt Lindland, who eagerly exposed his right nipple.

Bad Brad, renowned MMA photographer Tracy Lee, and Kurt Otto caught up with the crew when Royce Gracie showed up!

The Rear Naked Choke: After Hours Party Shenannigans w/CrossFit AllisonNYC

Listen to the Show

Well into the middle of the night after the IFL had completed its event, there was another competition just across the Meadowlands. And JoeTed.com was there! Breaking into video a little differently than expected, check out the video clip below of CrossFit legend AllisonNYC doing pullups to try and win a bet. You might also see some other familiar faces from The RNC!

On April 7, we returned to the regular schedule with a look back at the recent IFL event:

“Bad” Brad Blackburn joined The RNC to talk about his amazing comeback knockout of Delson Heleno, the potential for an IFL welterweight title fight and his Behind the Scenes with Joe & Ted video. Brad also digs the first-ever video produced on JoeTed.com and gave some of the background to its making!

Starting off the show was James “The Kitch” Kitcher, who runs JoeTed.com and sometimes a co-host and contributor, not to mention a CrossFitter and personal trainer. The Kitch recently was hanging in Sacramento with Matt “Suave” Horwich and Urijah “The California Kid” Faber, and gave the update on how it all shook down. The Kitch also riffed about the star of the JoeTed video (it’s just below), CrossFit AllisonNYC!

The Gunderson Gurgle
Mark Miller’s Nicknames
Plus: GeoCaching and Strat-O-Matic Baseball?

Listen to the Show

icon for podpress  John Gunderson and Mark Miller on The RNC! [68:54m]: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

We’re Marching through March – the best month in the history of The Rear Naked Choke.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING AND SPREADING THE WORD! PLEASE KEEP IT UP!

Last week, big-time RNC fan and IFL lightweight John Gunderson joined the guys and discussed his injury status and the impending surgery on his knee that will keep him sidelined for at least a half-year.

Guns is now forced to cater full-time to soccer moms at LA Boxing. Hear him explain why, and hear how he almost escaped Ryan Schulz’s guillotine choke using a gurgling trick he learned from Bas Rutten, along with what he thinks about the whole Couture/Fedor controversy.Besides being Ted’s new passion, do you know what Geo Caching is? Ted fills us in about this growing niche activity in the first of two middle segments.

In the second segment, we are reminded how much Ted hates Riz’s music and ponders how they ever, ever became friends. Kitch wonders the same thing all the time. Riz is nothing if not persuasive. After calling out Kitch on the air about not knowing who Peter Murphy & Bauhaus are while they were battling the Doodlebops in Vegas, Kitch actually went out onto iTunes and bought the latest Bauhaus album, entitled “Go Away White”. He reports, “I actually like it, despite myself.”

Of course, big-time fan that he is, Joe did not even know about the album. Pfft. One up for The Kitch.

Other topics include Joe’s obsession with Strat-O-Matic baseball and how he managed to win a big ass trophy that his wife HATES.

Finally, producer Debbie, fed up with Joe talking about Strat, got Mark Miller on the line. Mark talked about the solid base of fighters at Midwest Combat, his stunning knockout of Josh Neer and his total indifference to ring girls. Find out why a machine gunner works at a gym, too.

Plus – Ted introduced a new segment with Mark. We need your help naming it!!! Drop us a line at TheRNC@joeted.com or shoot us a myspace.

Also, get your ass out to the theater and see our buddy Sean Faris’ movie, Never Back Down. And then come back and listen to his last appearance on The RNC!

The fallout from Riz, Kitch and The RNC getting beat down by the Doodlebops.

Geno the Driver from the IFL joins the guys to lament about the defeat, plus he gives his expertise on “The Notebook” – this is the chick flick version of The RNC, so if you want the wife or girlfriend to become a fan, this would be the show to have them hear!

MONDAY:
GIANTS BACK JOE’S GUARANTEE, WIN SUPER BOWL!
IFL guests RYAN MCGIVERN & DENNIS DAVIS
Feb. 29 Previews Continue!

For those who checked it out, Joe guaranteed the Giants were going to pull off the stunning upset of the Patriots in the Super Bowl.  OK, he got the score wrong, but who cares?  Best Super Bowl ever, and the Eli Manning scramble/David Tyree catch off the helmet immediately goes down as the single-greatest play in Super Bowl history and Giants lore.  GO GIANTS!

Back to the IFL on Monday night, the guests on The Rear Naked Choke were Ryan McGivern and Dennis “The Piranha” Davis, both of whom will be fighting on the IFL’s Feb. 29th card at the Orleans in Las Vegas.  See how the IFL bills our show and others’.

Ryan, who competes for Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS), has been thrust into the middleweight title bout against Matt “Suave” Horwich because our friend, American hero Tim Kennedy, has been called to duty for the U.S. Army.  Tim is an Army Ranger.  We wish him safety and are thankful he and others in the military and their families make the sacrifice to keep peace.  Read his open letter – he said he should be back fighting later this year, which is great news!

Ryan’s last fight was  a stunningly dominant knockout of Fabio Leopoldo at the IFL Team Finals in Florida back in September.  Although he is taking this title fight on four weeks’ notice, Ryan is known as perhaps the top-conditioned athlete of the rugged Miletich camp.  We’re not talking about the best person at your local gym here, we’re talking about the top conditioned guy at the factory.  He’s always in fighting shape.

The RNC found out what Ryan likes to do when he is not training.  And listen right at the beginning to learn the nickname Pat Miletich has bestowed upon him.  Maybe Tim Hughes will use it when he introduces Ryan in Las Vegas!

Dennis is fighting at featherweight against Ian Loveland.  While this fight is listed as a preliminary bout, those in the know realize it is shaping up to be one of the most exciting matchups on the loaded card.

Dennis, who is with Xtreme Couture, mentored Ian, who is with Team Quest.  Did Dennis teach him everything he knows?  How do you build up animosity for someone you worked hard to develop?  Hear Dennis’ take on the RNC, and then to enhance your knowledge, check out Ben Fowlkes’ article on the IFL site, and also Ben’s previous story that gives the view from Ian’s side.  You should also check out Ben’s blog.  We have had Ben on the show a few times, but not for a while.

Find out all about it on The Rear Naked Choke, Featuring Joe & Ted!  We’re streaming live Monday night at 9:30 Eastern, 8:30 Central, 7:30 Mountain and 6:30 Pacific (also, Tuesday at 02:30 GMT for those outside of North America).

BIG NEWS

We’re goin’ to Vegas, baby!  That’s right, The RNC will be there in Vegas to get you ready for the IFL event on the 29th!  We’ll do the usual drill – (heavy Brooklyn accent) “A couple two, tree shows” before fight night, loaded with great MMA guests!  Then, of course, the ringside live stream right before the throwdown!  Being in MMA hotbead Las Vegas, the pressure will be greater than ever to bring you the best of the IFL.  This is where you find out how it all works, people.

Check us out live or download anytime!  If you log on through TalkShoe, you can interact via chat with other listeners.  You also can listen by phone by calling 724-444-7444, punch in show ID 25116, and then #.  If you have a TalkShoe pin, you can put it in at that time, or you could just press 1 and # to listen.

Joe & Ted give you the best of the International Fight League (IFL) right here!

They started September, the month in which the IFL’s team champion will be crowned, by having on “Bad” Brad Blackburn, who will be fighting on the card Sept. 20, prior to the championship match between the Quad Cities Silverbacks and New York Pitbulls. The assistant coach of the Silverbacks, Steve Rusk, also gave his assessments 17 days before the championship throwdown.

Do not forget to stay tuned and find out what our favorite ring girl, Emily Miller, has been up to!

The focus of the show has been the IFL for more than six months. Let’s take time to see how Joe & Ted took an idea and turned it into the hottest show on the web.

From December until March, the show was in the experimental phase, being put together in a live test environment. When Emily joined the show as a guest one March evening, the show took a turn and the focus immediately shifted to the personalities and storylines of the IFL.

Horodecki dominates again, this time on TRS with Joe & Ted

Chris Horodecki, one of the most dominant fighters in MMA the past two years, was at his best outside the ring when he joined Joe & Ted on The RON Show at the Meadowlands moments before the IFL Semifinals.

LISTEN HERE!

Hanging around long enough to earn co-host status, The Polish Hammer gave Joe & Ted nuggets you will not hear anywhere else.  Horodecki covered everything, from MMA to the movies, and was able to defend against the guys, who were armed with “dirt” about the 19-year-old superstar given by his coach and mentor, the LA Anacondas’ Shawn Tompkins.

Leading off the show guest list, Tokyo Sabres heavyweight Wayne Cole stepped in for a few minutes, giving a preview of his fight with Bryan Vetell of the NY Pitbulls (it did not turn out well for Wayne).

Then Chicago Red Bears coach Igor Zinoviev stepped to the mic.  Igor is still training two to three times per day and looks like he could (and should) fight any day.  He hinted at a return to the ring.

It came time for a change of pace, and that’s when Emily Miller, our resident MMA expert, took some time to sit with Joe & Ted before starting her evening’s duties as a sexy IFL ring girl.  Keep track of Emily all the time on The RON Show!

Chris jumped in and carried things for quite a while, then the guys from MMA Madness took over and closed it out.  Hear senior writer Jeff Hamlin, czar Vince Waddell and editor-in-chief Pramit Mohapatra talk about the genesis of the site that is taking the world of mixed martial arts by storm!

The guys mixed and mingled all week with the movers-and-shakers of the IFL, and it all culminated on the air!  With Joe & Ted, you never know who is going to show up!
