Rear Naked Choke Radio streamed live Monday from LA Boxing in Paramus, NJ.

Host Joe Rizzo and Ted Takvorian, set up ringside each week at their home location in the brand-new gym, welcomed in new Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields.  Jake won the vacated belt with a unanimous decision over Mayhem Miller on Saturday night on CBS.  Joe and Ted also got news from Benji Radach about his next fight.

Hosts Joe Rizzo and Ted Takvorian talked to Tara about her upcoming fight Nov. 20 in Philadelphia and her recent “victory”

Joe and Ted came atcha LIVE ringside Tuesday from LA Boxing in Paramus, NJ.

Molly Helsel covered the third and final part in her Life of a Female Fighter series, recapping her fight in Puerto Rico, and the tussles she had outside of the cage with the promoter.

Benji Radach answered selected questions from fans of LA Boxing and MMA about training and health tips.

Shayna Baszler and Tara LaRosa were winners at the USA Grappling World Team trials this weekend in Phoenix and gave a recap from the action on and off the mat. Shayna was on the balance of the segment because Tara was caught in an October blizzard driving away from the Grand Canyon.

Frankie Edgar, getting ready for his UFC 98 showdown with Sean Sherk, made his debut on the show after Rear Naked Choke veteran Benji Radach explained what happened in his fight-of-the-year showdown with Scott Smith.

Frankie lives, in New Jersey vernacular, “down the shore” and trains at the gym of fellow UFC member Ricardo Almeida.  Andre Gusmao also trains at Almeida’s.  On most Sundays, Frankie heads to Whippany, N.J. for the pro practice at Mike Constantino’s AMA Fight Club, where UFC brothers Dan and Jim Miller regularly train.  There are also the occassional trips to train with Renzo Gracie. He talked about it all.

If that is not keeping Frankie busy enough, he just had a son in January and is an assistant wrestling coach at Rutgers University.  “The Answer” took time from his busy schedule to have some fun on The RNC (and he also revealed how he got his nickname).

Benji is nicknamed “Razor” but he might have to change it to the “Hardware Man” after his latest injury.  In a stunning defeat to Smith at Strikeforce in early April, Benji shattered his right hand in the first round.  He continued in the figtht and was dominating before taking a big right on the chin and getting TKO’d in a stunning third-round ending.

The result of the fight was bad enough for him without the surgery that ensued – seven screws and a metal plate in the hand, exceeding the four screws and plate already in his left hand.  He also has hardware in his jaw and knee.

Benji also gave the behind-the-scenes scuttle about how he and his cornerman, Bas Rutten, responded to the injury and the knockout.  Was it an unfair stoppage?  Listen to Benji explain why he thinks so.

But it was not to Ken Shamrock. In a bizarre turn of events, Shamrock had to relinquish his spot in the main event due to a cut sustained earlier in the day, and Seth Petruzelli stepped in from his spot in a preliminary light-heavyweight bout.
