Tara LaRosa is regarded by many as the best female mixed martial artist in the world, yet somehow it’s hard to write a story about her that does not mention Gina Carano.
With the somber news of the death of Evan Tanner, Tara Larosa (Philadelphia Fight Factory)joined Joe & Ted as the lone guest and kept things light in a brilliant debut appearance on the show. One topic that came up was Tara being in Rocklin, CA cutting weight for the Dollamur U.S. Grappling World Team Trials. While 138 lbs is a more natural weight for Tara, she decided to drop a weight class and compete at 121lbs. You can hear her talk more about the weight cutting process and what the Dollamur U.S. Grappling World Team Trials mean to her in the interview.
As of the latest news from the trials – Larosa was slated to compete against Felicia Oh of BJMUTA on Sunday, September 14th.
Another big talking point was Tara’s recent signing with the AFL and her upcoming match in early November 2008 on a pretty big MMA card.
Tara had no problem carrying on with the guys, dishing about her upcoming bout (although being elusive about revealing the exact date), her favorite fighters (men and women) and pretty much everything else under the sun.
Tara grew up on a dirt farm in South Jersey and roots for the Philadelphia professional sports teams. Other than that awful disorder, she is very down-to-earth and had a great time playing around with Joe & Ted while getting across her points on many subjects.
And…here is Tara dishing with Sherdog about her AFL deal. Conclusion – we’re more fun. More fun than Sherdog that is.
