Guests Shayna Baszler and Kaitlin Young talked about their upcoming fights, which will be Jan. 30 in Oklahoma in the FCF’s women’s 135-pound tournament.  Half the field – Shayna, Kaitlin, Jennifer Tate and Amanda Buckner — had been announced as of show time.  The winner of the three-date tournament will receive a Strikeforce contract, perhaps with a shot at a belt.

Joe and Ted came atcha LIVE ringside Tuesday from LA Boxing in Paramus, NJ.

Molly Helsel covered the third and final part in her Life of a Female Fighter series, recapping her fight in Puerto Rico, and the tussles she had outside of the cage with the promoter.

Benji Radach answered selected questions from fans of LA Boxing and MMA about training and health tips.

Shayna Baszler and Tara LaRosa were winners at the USA Grappling World Team trials this weekend in Phoenix and gave a recap from the action on and off the mat. Shayna was on the balance of the segment because Tara was caught in an October blizzard driving away from the Grand Canyon.

Tara LaRosa and Shayna Baszler know what they’re taking about when it comes to the women’s side of MMA.  They’ll tell you where the sport is at following the epic fight between Gina Carano and Cris “Cyborg” Santos.

LaRosa and Baszler co-hosted with Joe as Ted celebrated his milestone birthday somewhere else! Tara and Shayna are among the top fighters in the world in the female ranks, and they completely broke down the fight between Carano and Cyborg, hitting the technical aspects and also discussing what it means to the sport outside the cage.

Tara then stayed on with Joe and updated her status in addition to talking about Chuck Lidell’s participation in Dancing With the Stars.

Fun-loving Shayna Baszler, a.k.a. Queen of Spades called out Tara LaRosa!

Before that rematch happens, Shayna will fight unbeaten Canadian Sarah Kaufman June 19 on Showtime.  When Shayna makes her walk to the cage that night, “World Eater” by Bolt Thrower will be blaring.  In fact, she receives emails from the British death metal band after her fights!

Shayna is coached by Josh Barnett and sponsored by the Sioux Falls, S.D. roller derby team, although she says she is much too scared to try roller derby. “It’s real,” she says.

We had Shayna “weigh in” on the Bloated Cyborg controversy, giving special insight as a former opponent of the Brazilian.  We also talked about Shayna’s sexy cover shot on 605 Magazine, a potential rematch with Roxanne Modafferi, her sudden addiction to American Idol, Maryland Deathfest, and her status with the boys!

The state of women’s MMA was the central subject on The Rear Naked Choke, Featuring Joe & Ted with debutants Julie Kedzie and Shayna “Queen of Spades” Baszler.
